Firstly, to produce a range of heads and combos that are as light as possible while retaining the essential elements of traditional valve amplifiers, with no compromise in tone or performance, something guitarists have been asking for for decades. Secondly, it was to include everything in one box to allow the production of authentic valve amp tones recorded by a microphone in a room, directly into a DI or recording device. This was achieved by using the full amplifier signal path (including power valves) to drive a true reactive load, which is then passed through a state-of-the-art proprietary DSP section to provide almost limitless variations of cabinet\/speaker\/microphone\/room simulations. In line with Blackstar's design philosophy from the outset, these products were designed with reference to the sounds of traditional and modern valve guitar amplifiers, but we are not slaves to old dogma when it comes to the components and topologies used.
