One of EMG’s most popular pickups, the 81 is undoubtedly the model that started the revolution. Version with an active tone potentiometer. With its powerful ceramic magnets and tightly spaced coils, the EMG 81 has an intense tone with powerful highs and smooth sustain. Traditionally used in the bridge position, this humbucker will make your leads sound imposing even through the densest mixes. Used in either the bridge or neck position, its tone is biting.

We recommend pairing it with the 85 or 60 pickup for an extremely versatile setup.

With EMG’s solderless installation technology, there is no need to know how to use a soldering iron to install your pickups—it’s easy to do, even at home!
